    • That’s Rubbish! “Flight tickets need to become more expensive!”
This statement led to a heated discussion within our classes. Many people do not feel ready to pay more for easy and fast traveling. For me, an intern from Germany, it was hard to get used to the Irish waste separation and recycling. In my new Irish household, nobody really cares about separating plastic from domestic waste and vegans seem to be a rare species. Many Irish people still get confused when meeting a vegan and show no understanding for this way of living. There are of course always exceptions, but I still think that lots of actions could be taken for a more sustainable and eco-friendlier lifestyle. Too many plastic bottles and plastic packaging is found at the roadsides and pavements. I think that especially many younger students and teenagers would be ready for a change. They show interest in saving the environment and would like to be inspired by others! In one of our classes we talked about recycling systems and younger students were fascinated by this idea for Ireland. What do you think? Are Irish people eco-friendly and care about sustainability?
